Vehicle scrapping states will receive an incentive payment from the central government of Rs 2000 crore
The central government will give an incentive amount of Rs 2000 crore to the states for scrapping old vehicles. This amount will be given on a first-come, first-served basis, but for this, the states will have to set up a registered vehicle scrap facility and an automated testing station. It is mandatory to scrap 15-year-old government vehicles. States giving motor vehicle tax exemption will get assistance up to Rs 200 crore.
